I’m currently working on a Java application that connects to a MySQL database, and I’m encountering a frustrating issue. I’ve added the MySQL Connector/J dependency to my project using Maven, but when I try to build or run the application, I keep receiving this error message: “Could not find mysql:mysql-connector-java:..”. I’ve double-checked my `pom.xml` file to ensure that I’ve specified the correct dependency and version, but it still doesn’t seem to resolve the issue.
I’ve also tried running a Maven update and clearing the local repository cache, but nothing seems to work. Is there something specific I’m missing in the configuration? Could it be that the version I’m trying to use is no longer available in the Maven Central repository? I’ve even tried manually adding the dependency, but I still run into the same problem. Any advice on how to troubleshoot or fix this issue? It’s really hindering my progress, and I would appreciate any guidance on how to properly set up the MySQL connector in my Java project. Thank you!
So like, I was trying to run my Java project and I got this error saying “could not find mysql:mysql-connector-java:”. It totally confused me! 🤔
I think it means that my project can’t find the MySQL connector thingy? I read somewhere that it’s needed to connect to a MySQL database. Like, I probably need to include it in my project somehow? But I’m not sure how to do that. 😅
Maybe I should check my
pom.xml
file (if I’m using Maven, right?). I heard you have to add a dependency for it there, but I kinda forgot how.Or, maybe I need to download the connector JAR and add it to my project? It sounds like I should be Googling this or something! 🕵️♂️
If anyone has some tips, I’d really appreciate it! I just want to get this working so my project isn’t crying anymore. 😂
If you encounter the error “could not find mysql:mysql-connector-java:”, it typically indicates that Maven is unable to locate the MySQL Connector/J dependency in your project. First, ensure that you have correctly specified the dependency in your `pom.xml` file. The valid entry for MySQL Connector/J is as follows:
After adding or verifying the dependency, run `mvn clean install` to ensure that all dependencies are updated. If the issue persists, check your internet connection as Maven needs to download the jar file from the central repository. Also, confirm that your Maven configuration is correct and pointing to the right repositories. Often, corrupted local repositories can cause issues, so cleaning your `.m2/repository` folder and re-running the build might solve the problem. If you’re behind a corporate proxy, ensure that your `settings.xml` is properly configured to allow access to the Maven central repository.
