How can I fix the issue of YouTube videos not being able to resume playing after the November 2024 update?

anonymous user

Hey everyone, I’ve been having a bit of trouble with YouTube lately. Ever since the November 2024 update, I’ve noticed that I can’t seem to resume playing videos where I left off. It’s so annoying having to start over every time I get interrupted or have to pause the video for any reason.

I’ve tried refreshing the page, restarting my device, and clearing my browser cache, but nothing seems to work. I even tried searching online for a solution, but I haven’t been able to find anything that helps.

I’m at my wits’ end here and I really don’t know what else to try. Has anyone else been experiencing this issue? And if so, have you found a way to fix it? I would really appreciate any tips or advice you have to offer.

I just want to be able to enjoy watching YouTube videos without having to deal with this frustrating problem. So please, if you have any suggestions on how I can resolve this issue, I would be forever grateful. Thank you in advance for your help!

Hey there! I totally feel your pain with this YouTube issue. It’s super frustrating when you can’t pick up a video where you left off.

So, I’m not an expert or anything, but I’ve read about a few things you could try. Have you checked if you’re logged into your YouTube account? Sometimes being logged out can mess with the resume feature. Also, it might be helpful to try using a different browser or even the YouTube app on your phone if you haven’t already.

Another thing could be looking at your account settings. Make sure the feature for “Autoplay” is enabled. It might help keep track of the videos you’re watching.

If all else fails, maybe uninstalling and reinstalling the app (if you’re on mobile) could do the trick? I’ve heard it can help reset things.

I really hope one of these tips helps you out! YouTube is way more fun when everything works smoothly. Good luck!

It sounds like you’re experiencing a frustrating issue with YouTube’s video playback feature since the November 2024 update. This particular problem might be related to how YouTube handles session data or local storage for video playback. First, I recommend checking to ensure that cookies and local storage are enabled in your browser, as YouTube relies on them to remember your playback position. Additionally, consider trying different browsers or devices to determine if the issue persists across them, which can help identify if it’s a localized problem or a broader one affecting the platform.

If the problem continues, it may be worth reporting the issue directly to YouTube’s support team. Given that this is a new update, it’s possible that they are already aware of the problem and might provide a fix in a future update. Meanwhile, you could also explore alternative YouTube apps or browser extensions that may offer better playback controls, allowing you to manage your viewing experience more seamlessly. Keeping an eye on forums or communities where similar issues are discussed could also yield insights from other users who have faced this challenge and have found effective solutions.
