How can I obtain HM03 Surf in Pokémon Alpha Sapphire if I have already missed the opportunity to acquire it?

anonymous user

I’ve been playing Pokémon Alpha Sapphire, and I’m kind of stuck here. I remember hearing everyone talk about HM03 Surf being such a crucial move for exploring the water routes, but I totally missed the chance to grab it when I should have. I think I was too focused on leveling up my Pokémon and totally spaced out on that part of the game where you can get it.

Now, I’ve reached a point where I really want to take advantage of those water routes, but I feel like I’m missing out big time without Surf. I tried checking various walkthroughs and forums, but I keep getting conflicting info. Some people say there’s a way to get it later on, while others imply it’s one of those moves that you just can’t go back for.

I’ve already heard something about having to go to Mauville City and catching the right Pokémon or whatever, but that sounds so tedious. I’m really hoping there’s a more straightforward way to go about this. Has anyone else run into this issue, and if so, how did you deal with it? Like, is there a specific character I can talk to or some hidden area I need to visit?

Also, if I do need to go hunt down the item or Pokémon, can someone please guide me on how to do that without spending ages trying to figure it out again? I just want to enjoy surfing across that ocean and explore all those hidden areas everyone keeps talking about.

I guess while you’re at it, I’d love to hear about some cool spots I can reach with Surf that I shouldn’t miss out on! I just feel so frustrated right now, and I’m hoping the Pokémon community can help me out. Thanks in advance for any tips or suggestions you can share!

Getting HM03 Surf in Pokémon Alpha Sapphire

Hey there! It sounds like you’re in a bit of a pickle without Surf. Don’t worry, I got you covered!

First off, HM03 Surf is definitely super important for exploring the watery parts of Hoenn. If you missed it earlier, here’s how to get it:

      Where to find Surf?

      1. Head to Mauville City.
      2. Once there, you need to go to the Mauville Hills area.
      3. Look for a house that looks different; that’s the House of the moving man.
      4. Inside, you’ll find Wailmer (you’ll need to have the ability to catch Water-type Pokémon).
      5. After clearing out some tasks, you can return to the area where you can get Surf.

If you’re struggling to catch a Wailmer, don’t stress too much! Just check for water areas. You’ll find them in routes like Route 110 or Route 118.

      Using Surf

Once you have Surf, you can take on those awesome water routes! Here are a few cool spots you should definitely check out:

      • Route 104: There are hidden items and Pokémon here.
      • Route 133: Great for finding rare Pokémon!
      • Seafloor Cavern: An essential part of the storyline, plus tons of treasure.
      • Legendary Pokémon: You can even access areas where legendary Pokémon appear!

Don’t let the frustration get to you! Just take it step by step. Soon you’ll be paddling your way around the Hoenn region in no time!

In Pokémon Alpha Sapphire, obtaining HM03 Surf is indeed essential for exploring water routes, and while missing it initially can be frustrating, there is a way to get it later on in the game. You can find HM03 Surf in the Hidden Ruins located within Route 124. You will need to have access to the Dive ability to reach this area. First, head to the Sea Mauville, which can be found north of Route 109. From there, use your Dive ability to find the underwater entrance at the southern part of the area. Inside, navigate through the ruins, and you should eventually come across a submerged area that contains the Surf HM. By following this route, you can efficiently acquire Surf without the need for tedious backtracking.

Once you’ve obtained Surf, there are numerous exciting locations you can visit! Consider exploring Route 124, where you’ll discover hidden items and trainers to battle. Additionally, don’t miss out on the Safari Zone, where you can encounter unique Pokémon. You can also explore the waters around Sootopolis, where legendary Pokémon like Kyogre can be found. Utilizing Surf will not only enhance your gameplay but also enrich your Pokémon journey with new adventures and discoveries. Happy surfing!
