How can I remove cookies for a particular website in Ubuntu?

anonymous user

I’ve been having this annoying issue lately with cookies on my browser, and I’m hoping someone here can help me out. So, here’s the deal: I use Ubuntu, and I’ve noticed that certain websites seem to remember all my preferences and logins because of the cookies they store. This wouldn’t be such a big deal if it weren’t for the fact that I’ve been trying to clear out some old data. Specifically, there’s this one site that I don’t want keeping anything from my last visit. You know how it is – sometimes you just want a fresh start, right?

The website in question has all this old info that I really don’t need anymore, and it keeps popping up every time I go there. It kind of feels a bit intrusive, and honestly, I’m not a huge fan of those auto-filled login fields. So, I decided it’s time to tackle this head-on and remove the cookies for that specific site. But here’s where I get stuck. I’ve read a little about clearing cookies in the settings, but it seems like I’d have to clear everything, which I really don’t want to do.

Is there a way to target just that one website? I’m using Firefox on Ubuntu, just in case that makes any difference. I tried looking through the settings menu, but I didn’t find a clear path – either I’m missing something, or it’s just not very user-friendly.

Also, if anyone has tips on how to prevent this from happening in the future or set up some kind of cookie management system, that would be awesome! I understand that cookies can be useful, but having them linger longer than necessary for sites I rarely visit is just not my vibe.

So, if you’ve managed to sort this out yourself or have some guidance on how to wipe cookies for just that one site, I’d really appreciate it! Thanks a ton for any help!

Sounds like you’re having quite the cookie conundrum! 🍪 No worries, I can help you out with that.

In Firefox, you can totally target specific cookies without having to wipe everything. Here’s how you can do it:

      1. Click on the hamburger menu in the upper right corner (the three horizontal lines).

      2. Select Settings (it might say Options for some versions).

      3. Scroll down and click on Privacy & Security.

      4. Under the Cookies and Site Data section, click on Manage Data….

      5. A list of sites will pop up. Use the search bar to find the site you’re dealing with.

      6. Once you find it, select the site and click on Remove Selected.

      7. Hit Save Changes and you’re golden! 🌟

This should clear just the cookies for that annoying site while keeping the rest of your cookies intact!

As for future cookie control, you can check out cookie management extensions like Cookie AutoDelete or just adjust your Firefox settings to limit how long cookies last. That way, they won’t stick around longer than you want. 🕒

Good luck, and may your browsing be cookie-free and comfy!

To clear cookies for a specific website in Firefox on Ubuntu, you can follow these steps: First, click on the menu button (the three horizontal lines) in the upper right corner of the browser window and select “Settings.” In the Settings menu, navigate to the “Privacy & Security” panel. Scroll down to the “Cookies and Site Data” section and click on “Manage Data.” In the dialog that appears, you can search for the specific site whose cookies you want to remove. Once you find it, you can select the site and click the “Remove Selected” button. Finally, click “Save Changes” to confirm your action. This will allow you to clear cookies for just that one site without affecting your preferences for others.

To prevent similar issues in the future, consider using Firefox’s Enhanced Tracking Protection feature, which helps minimize tracking by third-party cookies and can also limit the cookies stored by websites. Additionally, you might want to look into using cookie management extensions or regularly scheduled cleanups of site data. Extensions like “Cookie AutoDelete” or “Privacy Badger” can give you more control over cookie management and help ensure that unwanted data doesn’t persist beyond your visit. By implementing these strategies, you can maintain a more organized browsing experience without the baggage of old cookies.
