how long to get aws certified

anonymous user

I’m really interested in getting AWS certified, but I’m unsure about how long it might take and how to plan my study effectively. I have a full-time job and limited time in the evenings and on weekends, so I want to make sure I can fit my study schedule around my existing commitments. I’ve heard that preparing for AWS certifications can vary significantly in duration depending on the specific certification—like whether I choose the AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Developer, or DevOps Engineer.

I’m also concerned about my current knowledge level. I have some experience with cloud computing and AWS, but I wouldn’t say I’m an expert. Do I need to take an in-depth bootcamp, or could I self-study using online resources like tutorials and practice exams? I really want to be well-prepared, but I also don’t want to overstretch myself or end up burning out. Is there a typical timeframe that most people recommend for preparation? Also, how frequently do people typically schedule their exams, and how can I ensure that I’m truly ready when I do? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

How Long to Get AWS Certified as a Rookie Programmer?

If you’re just starting out and want to get AWS certified, you’re probably wondering how much time you’ll need to put in. Honestly, it varies from person to person, but here’s a rough idea.

      Study Time

If you’re a total rookie, you might want to spend around 2 to 3 months preparing. This includes:

      • Learning Basics: Spend some time getting familiar with cloud concepts and AWS services.
      • Hands-On Practice: Play around in the AWS free tier; it’s super helpful!
      • Online Courses: Check out some courses on Udemy or Coursera; they usually have solid resources.
      • Preparation Materials: Look for AWS whitepapers and FAQs; they help a lot!

      Exam Preparation

Once you feel comfortable with the basics, it might take you another 1 to 2 weeks just to focus on exam-specific materials. Practice tests are great for this!

      Sneak Peek into the Timeline

So, if you add it all up, you’re looking at a total of about 3 to 5 months to get ready. But remember, it’s not a race! Go at your own pace, and don’t stress too much.

      Final Thoughts

Getting AWS certified opens a lot of doors, and it can be a fun journey as you learn. Just enjoy the process, and you’ll get there!

To become AWS certified as a person with extensive programming experience, the time required can vary significantly based on prior knowledge of cloud concepts and familiarity with AWS services. For someone who is already proficient in programming and has a good understanding of IT concepts, a targeted study plan could take around 2 to 3 months. This period would typically include self-paced learning through online courses, hands-on practice with AWS services, and reviewing relevant documentation. The focus should be on mastering the exam objectives for the specific certification sought, such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect or AWS Certified Developer.

Additionally, hands-on experience with AWS is crucial, as practical application of your programming skills in a cloud environment can dramatically enhance your understanding. Setting aside regular study sessions, working on practical projects, and using AWS’s free tier can help consolidate your knowledge. Engaging in study groups or forums can also provide support and additional resources. Ultimately, while the core technical skills may position you well for certification, committing adequate time to understand AWS’s ecosystem will be key to successful certification.
