What is the pure JavaScript method for executing a function once the DOM is fully loaded, similar to how jQuery’s ready function works? How can I ensure my script runs after the webpage has completely finished loading without relying on jQuery?

anonymous user

Hey everyone! I’ve been diving into JavaScript lately and I’m a bit stuck on something. I know that jQuery has a handy `$(document).ready()` function to execute code once the DOM is fully loaded. However, I’m trying to do the same thing using pure JavaScript, since I want to avoid using jQuery for this project.

Could anyone help me out with the method or approach I should use to ensure my script runs after the webpage has completely finished loading? I want to make sure that all the elements are fully available for manipulation when my script kicks in. Thanks in advance for your help!

      JavaScript DOM Ready

      To ensure that your JavaScript code runs after the DOM has fully loaded, you can use the built-in DOMContentLoaded event. This event is fired when the initial HTML document has been completely loaded and parsed, without waiting for stylesheets, images, and subframes to finish loading. Here’s how you can implement it:

      document.addEventListener("DOMContentLoaded", function() {
          // Your code goes here
          console.log("DOM fully loaded and parsed");
      });

      Alternatively, if you want to ensure that the entire page, including all dependent resources like images, is fully loaded before executing your code, you can use the load event on the window object. This is how it looks:

      window.addEventListener("load", function() {
          // Your code goes here
          console.log("Page fully loaded");
      });

      Using either of these methods will allow you to effectively run your script at the right time, ensuring that all elements are available for manipulation.
